Description
This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This acquisition will be made in accordance with the format in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 12.6 Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and solicitation for commercial Items, as applicable, and as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation (a written solicitation will not be issued) and quotes are being requested. The Solicitation number is RFQ-NIAID-2068434 and the solicitation is issued as a Request for Quotes (RFQ). This acquisition will be processed under FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The solicitation documents and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2021-05, Effective 03/10/2021. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with a small business size standard size of 1,000 employees. This requirement is not set-aside for small business. This is Brand-name or equal requirement. Background and description of requirement: The Miltenyi Biotec gentleMACS Octo Dissociator with Heaters is a benchtop instrument used for the automated dissociation or homogenization of up to eight samples simultaneously. scRNA-seq continues to be a leading analytical platform that allows for the ability to further define our understanding of the transcriptomic profile of individual cells. This allows for an increased level of clarity in the diversity of transcripts detected within a given sample that traditional total RNA sequencing cannot provide. The gentleMACS is an integral part of the 10X Genomics single cell RNA sequencing pipeline. A critical step in scRNAseq is the recovery of fully dissociated, intact, and viable individual cells. Sample clumping, cellular debris, and dead cells have a significant deleterious effect on the quality of a scRNA-seq run and increase costs. Miltenyi Biotec, 10X Genomics and Illumina partnered to produce a streamlined workflow to facilitate high quality scRNA-seq runs. The purchase of the gentleMACS allows the IRF to continue to expand and optimize our sequencing capabilities with a verified system. The machine will also be used in the preparation of single cell suspensions for a variety of immunological assays and methods used in support of IRF studies. The gentleMACS tissue dissociator will be used to generate high quality single cell suspensions in support of our 10X Genomics sc-RNAseq capability. The gentleMACS is a key part of the 10X sc-RNAseq workflow and listed by both Illumina and 10X Genomics as a required part of the verified workflow. The machine will also be used by Immunology to prepare tissues for a variety of Immunological assays in support of IRF studies.
