Description
The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Louis District is seeking a firm to perform dike and revetment work on the Upper Mississippi River, River Miles 300 to 0. Work will be primarily river based on an open commercial navigation channel and will consist of new construction, restoration of existing river training structures, the modification of existing river training structures (notching), and placement of revetment stone to repair damaged bank lines due to high river stages. Verification surveys may be required per defined specifications. A small portion of work may be land based and/or may require debris removal. The work covered by this contract consists of furnishing all plant, labor, equipment, and material, and performing all operations necessary for construction, restoration and modification to river training structures and revetments. Work locations above Upper Mississippi River Mile 195 will require lockage through locks and dams. Work locations below Upper Mississippi River Mile 195 will be on the open river (no locks and dams). Numerous work locations will be identified in the plans and specifications. Each work location has a well-defined plan sheet with quantity of stone varying from site to site. The stone specifications will consist of Graded A stone (well graded with top size of 5,000 pounds), 2,500-pound stone and Graded C stone (well graded with top size of 400 pounds). Access to work sites will require both regular draft (greater than four (4) feet of water depth) and shallow draft (below four (4) feet of water depth). Work will be performed on an active navigation channel with ongoing commercial navigation traffic. Coordination with Navigation Industry and the US Coast Guard will be a responsibility of the firm. River closures associated with construction execution are not anticipated. Minor delays in commercial navigation may be warranted and will have to be coordinated with and approved by USACE Contracting Officer Representative.
