Description
1.0 Scope of Work This portion of the Deer Hill Road Reconstruction Project will consist of the supply and delivery of gravel needed for road repair and resurfacing. Deer Hill Road is a 5.8 mile long road that begins at the intersection with State Route 113 in Chatham, New Hampshire and ends at the intersection with Evergreen Valley Road in Stoneham, Maine. The Supplier for this project will be required to deliver gravel as needed throughout the contract duration. Access to Deer Hill Road is limited due to bridge load limitations. The delivery route is described below in Section 2.0-E. Contractor Requirements 2.0 Technical Requirements Two types of gravel are required. 1.5� crushed gravel 0.75� crushed gravel The 1.5� crushed gravel will be tail gate spread by the Supplier along the length of the road. The 0.75� crushed gravel will be stockpiled at sites along the road that will be determined as work progresses. The contract duration will be no more than 140 days.� Start date is dependent upon the Notice to Proceed. Partial orders will be placed by the United States Forest Service (USFS) throughout the duration of the contract. Gravel shall be delivered as requested Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM, excluding Federal Holidays. Weekend work is not required. Forest Service will give minimum of two business days� notice of a request for delivery.� For instance, if 100 CY of 1.5� gravel are needed on a Monday, the USFS will place that order no later than the prior Thursday morning. The USFS shall perform a site inspection of the supplier�s gravel pit(s) prior to the first delivery. The USFS may also perform an inspection(s) of the gravel pit at any point throughout the duration of the contract. If at any point the presence of invasive species is found in or around the area of the gravel pit, the USFS reserves the right to terminate the contract. Driver�s will be required to access Deer Hill Road from the west end at the intersection with Evergreen Valley Road in Stoneham, Maine. At the east end of the road, approximately � mile from the intersection with State Route 113 in Chatham NH, exists a bridge with a load limitation of 23,000 lbs. Drivers will be permitted to use this bridge if after dumping their gravel they are under the load limit. See below map of Deer Hill Road.
