Description

TheraSphere s Y-90 microspheres therapy is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure and patients usually go home hours after the procedure is completed. As of March 2021, TheraSphere Y-90 is the only recently fully FDA approved microsphere radiation therapy in the United States for the treatment of colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver. Theraspheres is a radiotherapy treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) that consists of millions of microscopic, radioactive glass microspheres being infused into the arteries that feed liver tumors. These microspheres then embolize, lodging themselves in the liver's capillaries and bathing the malignancy in high levels of yttrium-90 radiation.
