Description
The United States Department of Commerce (DOC), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Acquisition Management Division (AMD) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, with Plasma-Therm LLC.;10050 16TH Street N, St. Petersburg, FL 33716-4219 for the repair of the NIST owned PlasmaTherm Versaline ICP via buying a replacement drop in chiller to be utilized by NIST�s Physical Measurements Laboratory (PML) in Boulder, CO. The statutory authority for this acquisition is 41 USC 3304(a)(1); FAR 13.106-1(b). ***** Sole source determination is based on the need to repair one (1) NIST owned PlasmaTherm Versaline ICP. NIST-Boulder has a state-of-the-art research laboratory to support the most sensitive research done at NIST. Included in this building is a Class 100 microelectronics fabrication facility, called the Boulder Micro-Fabrication Facility (BMF).�� The PlasmaTherm Versaline ICP system is an important tool that is used in the in the BMF for many NIST mission critical programs.� The tool requires a chiller to keep samples at a fixed temperature during processing.� The chiller is broken, and to bring the tool back on-line, it needs to be replaced. Plasma-Therm is the manufacturer of the PlasmaTherm Versaline ICP system and is the sole owner of the proprietary technical information and technical capability to safely provide repairs and compatible replacement parts to include the drop in-chiller. As such they are the only vendor that has the technology and expertise required to safely repair NIST�s PlasmaTherm Versaline ICP system to required manufacturer�s specifications. *****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811219� Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance, with a small business size standard of $22 million in revenue. � *****A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.� Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.� *****No solicitation package will be issued.� This notice of intent is not a request for quotations; however, all responsible sources interested may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. Interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirements listed above must identify their capability in writing before the response date of this notice.
