- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for engineering services and related services to the Mechanical Systems Division and related organizations throughout GSFC, as required, for the formulation, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of space flight and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions.� The engineering areas of emphasis are multidisciplinary with concentration in the mechanical engineering areas of materials, structural analysis and loads, mechanical design, electromechanical design, thermal, contamination and coatings, manufacturing, and integration and test. NASA/GSFC intends to issue a sole source contract modification to acquire continued services from ATA Aerospace, LLC.� NASA/GSFC intends to increase the maximum ordering value by $15M.� This extension will allow for the continuation of mission critical services under the MIST contract through September 13, 2021, by which time the follow-on, competitive contract is expected to be awarded.� The rationale supporting this sole source award to ATA Aerospace, LLC in accordance with the authority at FAR 6.302, is based on the nature of the work to be performed, the short duration of the remaining contract period of performance, and the fact that NASA/GSFC currently has a competitive follow-on procurement underway. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to Shani L. Smith at shani.l.smith@nasa.gov not later than 4:00 p.m. EST on July�5, 2021.� Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis.� A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
