- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) located at the Research Triangle Park, NC campus are hosting a virtual conference on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. The purpose of this virtual conference is for U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) certified small business (8a, SDVOSB, Women-Owned, HUBZone, SDB) construction and facility support companies located in the state of North Carolina to learn about EPA, NIH, and NIEHS facility needs and for small businesses to present their construction and facility support capabilities in one-on-one meetings. The morning session of this virtual conference will consist of presentations from EPA, NIH, NIEHS, SBA, Government Contracting Assistance Program (GCAP), and the EPA Office of Small Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU).� EPA, NIH, NIEHS presentations will discuss construction and facilities support needs.� SBA, GCAP, and OSDBU presentations will provide information on how they can support you in becoming SBA certified and compete for upcoming EPA, NIH, or NIEHS contracts. Facility Support includes, but is not limited to: Cafeteria Services, Custodial/Janitorial Services, Security Management/Security Guards, Health and Safety Services, Campus Transportation (Shuttle Bus), Landscaping/Lawncare, Interior Plant Maintenance, Warehouse Management, and Facility Operations and Maintenance. Construction Services includes, but is not limited to: NIH - new construction, renovation of administrative and laboratory spaces, and equipment replacement/improvements on mechanical, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and security systems for all buildings including the Central Utility Plant and Medium-voltage Electrical Powerhouse.� EPA - Right size and Replace Chiller in Building A. Replace the existing 750-ton air cooled chiller (2 each, 375 ton each) with a new unit; Parking Deck Repairs - Repair spalling concrete, concrete cracks, exposed rebar, and concrete settlement, and perform routine maintenance; HVAC equipment replacement/repairs and maintenance; Roofing replacement (mainly TPO roofing) and plaza repairs (inverted roofing system); Solar panel installation; Envelope/caulking replacement; Road, trails, and parking lot paving, sidewalk repairs, and striping; Electrical equipment repair/replacement and maintenance; Building structural repairs; Building Automation System upgrades; Elevator modernization; Dryer and compressor replacements; Interior signage; Exterior signage; Bioretention and hardscape construction. It should be noted that both EPA and NIH facilities located on the RTP Campus are laboratories.� Construction firms with knowledge, expertise, and experience of performing work in a laboratory environment is extremely important. The afternoon session of this virtual conference will consist of 15-minute one-on-one meetings with construction and facility support representatives so your small business firm can present your capabilities.
