- Description
- Page 1 of 1 The Department of Veterans Affairs, James J. Peters VA Medical Center, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with VHSS (a SDVOSB) for the Keego Clinician Kit. The use of this device for this study is to allow persons with stroke that have impaired gate to ambulate better and allow them to perform other related activities. The Keeogo will assist a person to go from sit to stand and stand to site, allowing for the movement to be more controlled and thus be performed safely. In addition to this the study will investigate improvements of performing other activities such as bending down to pick up a penny from the floor and performing squats. These maneuvers are not possible to be performed with any other device available in the market and demonstrating improved ability of performing these measurements is a primary endpoint of this research. This device is currently being investigated in a research trial and changing the device would confound the results of the research trial due to the differences in how they function, how it can augment the ambulation, how the steps are triggered, and how the variable assist features function. In addition to this, this device is the only device that only supports knee function and is controlled by the hip movement to determine the assistance. This device also doesn t have a foot orthotic incorporated in its design and thus allows the user to use whatever orthotic they are already used to using, if any. This is a notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than July 5th, 12PM, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
