- Description
- Page 1 of 1 The Department of Veterans Affairs, Boston VA Medical Center, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with VHSS for the VWR EasyScan Pro 6 5 MP. The slide scanner, VWR EasyScan Pro 6, provides professional imaging quality with a specially designed high-NA Plan Apochromatic objective (20x/0.75) to maximize the color fidelity and resolution power, combined with a large 2/3 CCD sensor. It allows to scan 6 slides as a batch and could detect tissue area automatically. VWR EasyScan Pro is also friendly for the wavy and thick sectioned tissue samples, with specific customized scanning modes, z-stack mode and EDOF mode, respectively. Some kinds of tissues rich of collagen or hyaluronan would detach from the slides easily, then the detached parts made the tissue wavy, which is a challenge for image scanning. To solve this problem, the researchers need to adjust the focus manually for each field of view under the traditional microscope. Another scenario is for the thick sectioned (30-50 µm, cryo sections) tissue, usually for brain, spinal cord, or cell cultures in hydrogels, the microscope/slide scanner presents the projected image for the whole thickness, which includes many layers of tissue then the interested area is difficult to be observed. The VWR EasyScan Pro provides specific functions to solve the challenges mentioned above, which are not addressed in the brochures of the competitor products, such as Leica Aperio CS2 and Precipoint PP-M8. This is a notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, any responsible source who believes it is capable of meeting the requirement may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than July 5th, 12PM, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
