Introduction The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) requires routine maintenance and part replacement for a Micro-g LaCoste A-10 absolute gravimeter that is used in ongoing and planned USGS projects. B. Background The USGS Arizona Water Science Center in Tucson, AZ supporting the Water Mission Area, requests routine maintenance on its Micro-g Lacoste A-10 absolute-gravity meter. The meter supports the Centers efforts to provide accurate measurements of groundwater-storage change to decision makers and resource managers for the preservation of life, health, and safety of the American people. The meter is used on about 12 projects per year throughout the southwestern states and is the only one of its kind in USGS. The meter provides a critical reference datum for gravity surveys and is the only such instrument capable of providing this information. B. Scope Routine maintenance on the A-10 absolute-gravity meter. II. WORK REQUIREMENTS A. Technical Requirements. 1. Maintenance for A-10 absolute gravimeter to include dropping chamber cleaning, service, and tuning; superspring maintenance and service as needed; laser calibration and (or) replacement; ion pump replacement; vacuum-chamber feed-through replacement; ADC data-acquisition board replacement. 2. Criteria are an operable A-10 as determined by a measurement within 10 Gal of an accepted value at the National Geodetic Survey Table Mountain Gravity Observatory, Boulder, CO. B. Deliverables. 1. Operable meter with (1) new ion pump and vacuum feedthrough; other parts replaced as needed. 2. Meter to be delivered no later than September 30, 2021 at place of service (1401 Horizon Ave., Lafayette, CO)
