SUBJECT: Hershel Woody Williams VA Medical Center is conducting market research in order to provide ASTYM Training. Statement of Work Training of PM&R Staff in tool assisted soft Tissue mobilization 1.0 General 1.1 Background The mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs is to To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan by serving and honoring the men and women who are America s veterans. The mission of the whole health program is to provide complimentary/alternative care options. This acquisition is part of a whole health initiative that trains the staff in PM&R in application of an alternative treatment approach to assist in functional recovery, enhanced quality of life and pain reduction. This is a 2-day training workshop that will allow the physical medicine and rehabilitation team to gain useful and directly applicable skills to the veteran population. It provides the clinician with the skills necessary and the tools for immediate deployment into the clinic. 1.2 Objective The physical medicine and rehabilitation department in conjunction with the whole health initiative has identified an area of need as well as an area of care that has been underutilized within our facility as well as within the physical medicine service. By receiving the tool assisted training in the specialty soft tissue mobilization this will empower our staff to integrate an additional tool/approach that will assist in the recovery as well as enhance their overall wellbeing. 1.3 Scope of Work The educating body will provide 2 days of hands-on training, ongoing training updates, provide access to materials for patient education, provider education/updates as well as access to the database of literature supporting the treatment approach. Tools for each trainee are included in the cost of the training. 1.4 Period of Performance This training takes place on 8/28/2021-8/29/2021. 1.5 Applicable Documents VA/ or the Marshall University School of PT will provide the space for training as well as treatment tables and linens for use during the hands-on sessions. 2.0 Specific Requirements/Tasks 2.1 Task One 12 hours of online training to include physiology, pertinent research, upper extremity anatomy, lower extremity anatomy, lower kinetic chain biomechanics, online user tools orientation, video demonstration of technique, technique review, indications, precautions and contraindications, proper exercise prescription following the treatment. 2.2 Task Two Hands on day 1(9 hours): Review indications, contraindications. Technique instruction Application, stroke technique, proper tool choice. Regional lecture and demonstration: elbow wrist and hand, shoulder with proficiency, surgical scar management, hand specialty tools/treatment. 2.3 Task Three (8 hours) Hands on Day 2: Regional application foot, ankle and knee, hip, pelvis, back, with proficiency review. 3.0 Delivery or Deliverables All instructional materials, participant tools, handouts and provider access to website containing exercises, technique review, articles, etc. 4.0 Meetings N/A 5.0 Required Travel and Other Direct Costs (ODCs) Travel is not a consideration for this as the course will be conducted locally. Contractor is responsible for all travel costs and lodging associated with the course. 6.0 Government Furnished Property/Equipment/Information VAMC Huntington will provide the room for 8 treatment tables and other items required for safe course participation regarding PPE. 7.0 Special Instructions N/A
