Description
This project will consist of all multiple repairs and maintenance activities necessary for the repair of the Chesapeake City Bridge.�� The bridge is located along MD Route 213 in Chesapeake City Maryland.�� Anticipated work on the bridge will consist of superstructure steel and approach slab repairs.� Repairs will include replacement and repainting of severely deteriorated and corroded primary steel members near leaky deck joints, lateral bracing connection plates, main span arch ribs and gusset plates.� Heavy to severe pack rust exist between the floor-beam bottom flange angles and the ends of the bottom flange cover plates at several locations.� This pack rust has resulted in cracked welds between the bottom flange cover plate and bottom flange angles at some locations.� Numerous stringers in the South Approach spans exhibit holes in the webs over the floor-beam top flange bearing areas including a large hole, 12"" long x 1"" high, exists in the lower web of a stringer.� The inspection walkway has areas with disconnected handrail due to deterioration.� Numerous holes and cracks are present in the concrete substructure and roadway.� The south approach slab is in poor condition with extensive patches and associated spalling.� The curbs at both approaches display heavy deterioration and the blunt end of the northwest curb is a hazard to traffic.� Both the repair of the south approach slab and the curbs along both approaches will be repaired.
