Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA), Network Contracting Office 22-G(NCO 22G) is conducting a market survey and is seeking potential sources for . This Sources Sought Notice is issued for information and planning purposes only. This is not a solicitation or a request for proposal and shall not be construed as an obligation or commitment by the Government. An award will not be made on any offers submitted in response to this notice, and it shall not be implied the Government is committed to providing any solicitation or award following this notice. The Government will not pay for any information received in response to this request, nor will the Government compensate a respondent for any costs incurred in developing the information provided.     Responses shall be submitted to Nick Price at Nicholas.Price@va.gov by COB 7/19/2021   This notice is intended strictly for market research. The Government will in no way be bound to this information if any solicitation is issued.  A. Background The Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS) located at 3601 S. 6th Ave, Tucson, Arizona 85704 Nutrition and Food Service (NFS) department is embarking on a project to modernize patient tray assembly system. NFS has successfully converted to makeshift pod system in their temporary tent kitchen. This system has made the system for assembling patient trays more efficient by decreasing assembly time and increase overall employee morale. Upon moving back to their permanent space, NFS would like to continue with this more efficient process, that has shown outstanding results. NFS hopeful that their outdated conveyor belt system (purchased in 1990) can be removed and the tray assembly system can be converted to a more modernized process, permanently. THIS IS A request for information only please only send brochures not QUOTES B. Scope NFS is responsible for patient meal production. To meet patient satisfaction goals and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) quality compliance standards, and maintain employee morale, NFS needs to modernize the current tray assembly system. The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, transportation, and equipment. The contractor shall provide a complete response to the solicitation verifying and acknowledging each of the technical requirements and services needed by the Government. The contractor s response to each of the technical requirements and services shall be reviewed during the technical evaluation to decide as to the contractor s ability to provide the services contained in this solicitation. C. Services 1.1 Government Furnished Services 1.1.1 The Government will arrange for removal of current tray assembly system (tray line conveyor belt). 1.1.2 Electricity- the Government will provide access and appropriate electrical connections required for equipment. 1.2 Contractor Furnished Services The contractor shall perform in a professional, cooperative, and workman like manner. All equipment and services are required to meet Federal, State, local regulations, the National Electric Code, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Food and Drug Administration Food Code, National Restaurant Association Standards, and National Sanitation Foundation Standards. Specific contractor responsibilities are listed below: 1.2.1 Contractor will install, set up, and commission the kitchen equipment. 1.2.2 Contractor will ensure that units are in good working condition. 1.2.3 Contractor will provide staff training. 1.2.4 Contractor will provide items and quantities as listed in Attachment A. 1.2.5 Contractor will assist with equipment placement to maximize the tray assembly system. D. Equipment- refer to Attachment A for list 1.3- 5- Well Steam Tables (2) 1.3.1 (2 each) Brand name or equal, Aladdin Hot Food Counter, 5 well 1.3.2 Design Features: a. Stainless steel countertop with diestamped well openings b. Individually controlled 1000-watt hot food wells, bottom mounted c. All wells have drains that are plumbed to a common valve d. Must have 5 swivel, heavy duty casters with brakes e. Long cord with plug (at least 10 feet) f. Must have overshelves with heat lamps and fold-down workshelves 1.3.3 Construction Features: a. Made of stainless steel b. Must be 74 long, not exceed 30 in depth c. 208 Volts 1.4 Air Curtain Refrigerators (2)- left hinge 1.4.1 (2 each) Brand name or equal, Aladdin Air Curtain Refrigerator, High Performance, Glass Door, Left Side Hinge with locking plug 1.4.2 Design Features: a. Must have clear glass door b. Must hold up to 10 standard 18 x26 sheet pans c. Have multi-directional airflow, with pre-chill cycle d. Must have 5 swivel, heavy duty casters with brakes e. Must have 270° door swing with magnetic catch for open position f. Must have easy to read exterior, digital thermometer f. Must have swivel casters with 2 brakes g. Warranty The contractor shall provide the standard 1-2 year warranty; with a 5-year warranty on refrigerator compressors. Must have an option to purchase an extended warranty of 3-5 years that will cover all parts, labor, supplies, travel costs, and user support at no additional cost to SAVAHCS.
