- STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW) as of 24/May/2021 2. Contract Title. EYESI Surgical Simulator 3. Background. The Eyesi Surgical Simulator is a widely accepted valuable mode of surgical training for Ophthalmology residents, now acquired by 36 other VA medical centers with training programs. The core justifications are patient safety and accelerated surgical skill development. It has been shown to allow for less intraocular surgical complications, highly realistic training experience, unlimited independent practice time, a multi-tiered training curriculum, and objective powerful assessment/evaluation capability all of which have been backed by clinical studies. Trainees are able to practice the steps of surgery repetitively to competency prior to attempting surgery on our veterans, to include simulation of surgical complications and remedies. 4. Scope. 5. Specific Tasks. Deliverables: Less Complications in Intraocular Surgery Highly Realistic Training Experience Unlimited Independent Practice Multi-Tiered Training Curriculum Objective Assessment and Powerful Evaluation Tools 6. Performance Monitoring Inspection of EYESI surgical simulator will be made upon delivery. The system, and all accompanying parts, will be monitored by the Eye Center technicians prior to use every day. Biomedical engineering will monitor for unusual wear and tear or product failures and perform routine servicing or rely on the manufacturer within the confines of the contract. Premature breakage or failures will be reported to the company for quality control correction as well as for replacement as per the service contract. Breakage that occurs with continual use over time is a reasonable expectation. 7. Security Requirements None. This is not a networked unit and does not have any sensitive patient information stored. 8. Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE)/Government-Furnished Information (GFI). None 9. Other Pertinent Information or Special Considerations. a. Identification of Possible Follow-on Work. None b. Identification of Potential Conflicts of Interest (COI). None c. Identification of Non-Disclosure Requirements. None d. Packaging, Packing and Shipping Instructions. Entire purchase will be delivered to the Cincinnati VA Medical Center Eye Center. Biomedical Engineering will need to perform a safety check and enter in to the system for annual PM checks. e. Inspection and Acceptance Criteria. Entire purchase will be delivered to the Cincinnati VA Medical Center Eye Center. Biomedical Engineering will need to perform a safety check and enter into the system for annual PM checks. 10. Risk Control This unit does not need to be compatible with any other piece of equipment or network. 11. Place of Performance. This equipment will be used in the Cincinnati VA Eye Center Minor procedure room. 12. Period of Performance. It is asked that this equipment be delivered as soon as possible as the Surgical Simulator for Eye Surgery. 13. Delivery Schedule. 30-45 days
