- This request requires the WNY 112 roof covering be inspected/tested for leaks and repairs made to arrest leaks of the roof of Building 112 at the Washington Navy Yard, in Washington, DC.�� Perform leak testing around all breezeway, coping, flashing and deck. Inspection for the roof leak shall be performed by a certified roof contractor. The exact locations of repairs are identified in the appendix. The HVAC system where wet ceiling tiles are observed has been checked for leaks and determined not to be the cause. On the roof there are several slate tiles that are missing or ajar. X-ray, thermos-imaging or other non-destructive means shall be used to locate and arrest the leaks. The area to be inspected shall be the width of the breezeway and extend from gutter to ridge cap. If leaks are found to be from the breezeway, then the old seals shall be removed and replaced with new to match existing. If leaks are found to be from the Coping/flashing, then the coping/flashing shall be removed and replaced with new. All public areas in and around the building will be kept clean and free of obstructions at all times.� The contractor shall provide warning tape and signs around the construction area to prevent employees from entering the construction site.� Work shall start after Award/Notice to Proceed. Contractor and all subcontractors will have a site specific documented safety program, and fall protection equipment use program which the Contractor shall monitor. The project requires implementation of the safety and health requirements set forth in the current EM-385-1-1 manual by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Recycling commingled waste shall be standard method of practice. Contractor shall broom sweep the construction project at the end of each day. All work areas will be cleaned and any debris will be removed at the end of each workday and placed in a dumpster provided by the contractor. The quality type of materials shall be commensurate or better to the quality of material used in the original installation.� The contractor should repair with 100% no deficiencies or concerns resulting from the repair in accordance with government accepted technical methods.
