- Page 2 of 2 Page 2 of 2 36C24221Q1201 SPECIAL NOTICE NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE GENTELMACS OCTO The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office NC02 in conjunction with the Western New York Health Care System Buffalo VA Medical Center, 3495 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215, Medical Research Department intend to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The NAICS code is 334516 with a large business size standard of 1,000 employees. The VA intends to solicit and negotiate with MILTENYI BIOTEC INC for a GENTELMACS OCTO. This contract will be a Firm Fixed Price sole source. Gentelmacs Octo is a unique, walkaway instrument enabling enzyme tissue digestion with or without heat in a completely sterile, closed system. This dissociator comes with 1-year service and we intend to use it to understand molecular characteristics of cells in various tissues that our VA investigators harvest from rodents and humans as this can dissociate tissues in to single cell suspensions. The GMOH is the only automated machine in the field of neurology that dissociate neuronal tissue. Although not indicated in the original grant submission, the primary intended use of the gentleMACs tissue dissociator is to allow post-biopsy tissue processing of samples acquired from participants of the Nicotinamide for Veterans (NR-VETS) clinical trial as funded by RR&D RX003396, grant entitled, Impacts of nicotinamide riboside on functional capacity and muscle physiology in older Veterans , PI Seldeen which is slated to start July 1st, 2021. Additionally, the equipment will support ongoing grant activities of BLR&D funded BX004369, entitled, High intensity interval training and nicotinamide riboside treatment to enhance functional capacity and reduce frailty during aging , PI Troen, including the dissociation of mouse muscle tissue for preparation and isolation of muscle stem cells.. Other persons may identify their interest by responding to this requirement by Wednesday, July 28TH 2021 at 5pm EDT. Such capabilities information will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
