SPECIAL NOTICE - INTENT TO AWARD ON A SOLE SOURCE BASIS This is a special notice for commercial items in accordance with the simplified acquisition procedures authorized in FAR Part 13. This announcement constitutes the intent to award on a sole source basis; proposals are not being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The Department of Commerce/National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/National Environmental Satellite Data and Information Service (DOC/NOAA/NESDIS), intends to award a sole source intends to award, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)�The Government intends to enter into a sole source requirement with the American Meteorological Society (AMS) 43 Beacon Street, Boston, MA.� Under this notice, this award will be issued other than small business under NAICS Code 561920 -- Convention and Trade Show Organizers, Size Standard $12M The purpose is to establish a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA), In Accordance With (IAW) FAR 13.303-2, Establishment of BPAs.� The requirement is to provide for the editing, formatting, printing, mailing and publishing when appropriate of scientific articles, page charges, journals, manuscripts, bulletins of the American Meteorological Society (BAMS) and the State of Climate Report published by the American Meteorological Society (AMS). The requirement also includes providing registrations for AMS meetings, conferences and abstract submissions. Publications/State of Climate: Provide for the editing, formatting, printing, mailing and publishing when appropriate of scientific articles, page charges, journals, manuscripts, bulletins of the American Meteorological Society (BAMS).� Provide the State of Climate Report published by the American Meteorological Society (AMS).� The report, is compiled by NOAA�s National Centers for Environmental Information and is based on contributions from scientists from around the world.� It provides a detailed update on global climate indicators, notable weather events, and other data collected by environmental monitoring stations and instruments located on land, water, ice, and in space. AMS Meetings/Conferences Registrations: Use an on-line access registration system for all attendees and credit card processing registrations for access to AMS Meetings and Conferences. AMS Abstracts: Provide Online Submission of Abstracts which provides NESDIS� authors the opportunity to show case their scientific work to be presented during AMS meetings and conference The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is uniquely positioned to provide the vast majority of NESDIS� peer-reviewed publication needs, as it publishes the preeminent journals in the fields of meteorology and climatology. NESDIS' continued utilization of AMS journals for publication is vital to its continued recognition as the trusted source of climate and historical weather data and information. The American Meteorological Society (AMS) has been publishing the world�s premier research in the atmospheric, oceanic, and hydrologic sciences�from high-impact journals to award winning books to a long-standing series of meteorological monographs, with outstanding author support and post-publication marketing efforts. The AMS meetings and conferences provide NESDIS� participants the opportunity to discuss and share the latest research and network information on weather, water and climate community. The submissions of AMS abstracts provides NESDIS� authors the opportunity to show case their scientific work to be presented during AMS meetings and conferences. This is not a request for competitive proposals. Request for copies of this solicitation will not be honored unless the respondent provides evidence showing their capability to perform the required services.
