- Description
- The DISA Mobility PMO currently provides the DMCC capability to all DoD and approved non-DoD mission partners for global communication. To address and mitigate evolving cyber security threats, the National Security Agency (NSA) and DISA have identified the need to use a retransmission device (i.e., hotspot) in conjunction with all DMCC mobile devices that include but not limited to the Tab S3 CROM tablet, Tab S7 CROM tablet, S7 CROM handset, S20 CROM handset, and any future DMCC mobile devices for secure communications. The DMCC mobile devices are required to be tethered with a DISA Authorizing Official (AO) approved hotspot to operate secure communications. In addition to the procurement of a hotspot, associated domestic, priority, and international data plans are required to enable global communications. This J&A will apply only to those end users who cannot receive optimal service in their assigned area of responsibility (AOR) and/or mission location. For the purpose of this J&A, optimal service is defined as having sufficient signal strength to establish and maintain continuous connectivity to the DMCC network. Some specific examples, which are not all encompassing, are provided in section 4.(b) below that reflect known areas of less than optimal service. Service limitations are not restricted to the examples below, they are merely a representative of possible issues in a limited amount of coverage areas. If the DMCC end user has knowledge or experience with less than optimal service in their respective AOR, the DMCC end user may choose Verizon Wireless in DISA Direct Storefront (DDSF). The DMCC end user will be responsible for providing specific and detailed justification regarding why the primary vendors solution failed to meet their mission need. DMCC end users will be required to present the specific location(s) in which the primary vendor cannot meet their operational mission needs from a coverage perspective. Users will also be required to certify in DDSF that this supporting data is accurate and complete. To facilitate the identification of those areas lacking in sufficient signal strength to allow DMCC gateway connectivity, the DISA Mobility PMO will maintain a database listing locations based on the metrics provided by the end users. This information will assist the Secure Mobility Implementation Team in validating the end users request
