Description
ART IN ARCHITECTURE PROJECT GSA Synopsis for Artist Services Artist Services Synopsis Number: 47PE0721N0001 FBO Classification: R499 NAICS: 711510 Place of Performance: Fort Lauderdale, FL USA The General Services Administration (GSA) Art in Architecture Program commissions American artists (citizens and Lawful Permanent Residents or Permanent Workers of the United States) to create publicly scaled and permanently installed artworks for federal buildings nationwide. GSA announces an opportunity for a federal art commission in conjunction with the new construction of the Fort Lauderdale U.S. Courthouse, Fort Lauderdale, FL. GSA will design and construct a new United States Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida that meets the mission and operational requirements of the U. S. District Court of the Southern District of Florida and other federal agencies. The total Gross Square Footage (GSF) for the new U.S. Courthouse is established at a maximum of 228,215 GSF. The maximum square footage for the 50 programmed secure enclosed parking spaces is established at 22,500 Usable Square Feet (USF). The Total Gross Area Including Enclosed Parking is 250,715 GSF. The new U.S. Courthouse will provide an initial build-out of spaces to meet requirements of the 10-year plan for the U.S. District Court, U.S. Magistrate Court, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, U.S. District Clerk, U.S. Bankruptcy Clerk, U.S. Probation Services, Federal Public Defender, U.S. Attorney, the U.S. Marshals Service and the General Services Administration, and will address how the building and site will meet projected requirements through the year 2050 (30-year requirements). The new courthouse will include twelve courtrooms and seventeen judges chambers and a separate parking structure on the site to be coordinated with the City of Fort Lauderdale. GSA allocates one-half of one percent (0.5%) of the estimated construction costs of new or modernized federal facilities for art commissions. The art budget for this project is estimated to be $623,000. One or more artists will be awarded a fixed-price contract for a commission. Artists who wish to be considered for this and all future GSA art commissions must submit application materials to GSAs National Artist Registry (Registry). The Registry constitutes the qualified list of artists for this and all GSA commissions. Instructions on how to join the Registry are available on the following Web site: www.gsa.gov/artinarchitecture All artists who wish to be considered as candidates for a commission at the U. S. Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, FL, must have their application materials submitted and received by GSA by 5:00 PM Eastern Time on Tuesday September 28, 2021. Artists submissions received after the deadline will not be considered for this project in Fort Lauderdale, FL, but will be eligible for consideration on future GSA commissions alongside the other artists on the Registry. Artists already on the Registry do not need to resubmit but are welcome to update their information prior to the deadline. GSA evaluates artists based on the following criteria: the media, materials, content, and style of the artists past work, along with the artists past performance and experience with commissions or projects similar to the one described in this synopsis. Shortlisted artists will be contacted and asked to submit additional information including a statement that the artist can perform the work associated with the GSA commission within the identified budget. GSA will count the combined weight of all the selection criteria as significantly more important than price. At a minimum, the scope of services for this commission will require collaboration with the lead designer selected for the building project; development of preliminary and final concepts; fabrication of the artwork; participation in meetings and conservation reviews as necessary; and the installation of the artwork at the project site.
