- Description
- The National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is requesting information for an LPS (or unit assembly) for the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission. The scope of this requirement is anticipated to include design, analysis, fabrication, and subsystem/component level environmental performance testing. The LPS shall consist of an optical reference cavity (ORC) and associated LPS electronics (LPS-E). Due to the short time frame in demonstrating technology readiness level (TRL) six by the end of 2023, it is a requirement that the ORC has traceability to previous space flight heritage and design incorporated lessons learned from such flight mission. The LPS-E shall also have traceability to commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) design from the offeror. Functional requirements for the LPS are shown in Appendix A for reference. Responses should include as much design detail and expected capabilities you wish the Government to consider, in addition to any flight heritage and/or previous qualification testing performed. Responses to this RFI/Sources Sought shall include the following: One of the fundamental functions of the LPS is the frequency noise performance. To meet the LISA mission goals, the ORC must demonstrate a 30Hz/rtHz @ mHz frequency noise with supporting documentation. General description, to include rough order of magnitude (ROM) estimates for mass, dimensions and power. Electrical and mechanical interfaces Environmental performance Flight heritage and qualification (or by similarity claim to part numbers) Proposed subcomponent level testing and the location of test facilities ROM for cost High-level schedule (consideration of long lead procurement items) This RFI/Sources Sought is open to all types of organizations, including individuals, United States (U.S.) industry, universities, nonprofit organizations, NASA Centers, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, other U. S. Government agencies, and international organizations. See attached documents for further information
