Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, with Mirion Technologies (Canberra), Inc.800 Research Parkway, Meriden CT 06450 under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), for the procurement of a Digital Signal Analyzer. Sole source determination is based on the need for a digital signal analyzer (called LYNX) which will improve the calibration capabilities for a larger number of source geometries as well as to reduce the uncertainties of the radioactive source measurements. This digital signal analyzer will replace the old analog electronics improving the energy resolution of the Mirion/Canberra high purity germanium (HPGe) detector owned by NIST improving the resolution of the detector by approximately a factor of 2. NIST owns a Mirion/Canberra detector and the Mirion/Canberra Genie-2000 software that must be compatible with the new digital signal analyzer. Mirion/Canberra is the sole source that can provide this digital signal analyzer that is compatible with the existing proprietary Genie-2000 software. This is proprietary and is only available from Mirion Technologies (Canberra). Mirion Technologies (Canberra) does not have any authorized distributors/resellers. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334519, and the size standard is 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation package will be issued.� This notice of intent is not a request for quotations.� Interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirements listed above must identify their capability in writing before the response date of this notice. Only responses received by 08/11/2021, 11:59 p.m., EST will be considered by the government. Responses shall be submitted via email to Barbara.suhrie@nist.gov.
