Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Abbott Laboratories for the purchase reagents. The National Center for Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities, Division of Blood Disorders has a need for the purchase of these reagents. The ARCHITECT HIV Antigens/Antibodies (Ag/Ab) Combo assay is a chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) for the simultaneous qualitative detection of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV type 1 (HIV-1 group M and group O) and/or type 2 (HIV-2) in human serum and plasma (EDTA and heparin). The ARCHITECT HIV Ag/Ab Combo assay is intended to be used as an aid in the diagnosis of HIV-1/HIV-2 infection, including acute or primary HIV-1 infection. The assay may also be used as an aid in the diagnosis of HIV-1/HIV-2 infection in pediatric subjects (i.e., children as young as two years of age) and in pregnant women. The Architect Anti-HCV assay is a two-step immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Hepatitis C Antibody (anti-HCV) in human serum and plasma. These are the only reagents compatible with current laboratory equipment. The pre-trigger and trigger solution are barcoded and no other vendor's reagents will work on the machine. These items can only be purchased from Abbott Laboratories, this company supports the instruments used in the Blood Disorders laboratory. This ensures accuracy of the tests performed and consistency and continuity of data accumulated and already used by Program. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1).
