Description
Purchase is for 4 YSI EXO3 multiparameter water quality instruments, 4 YSI central conductivity & temperature probes and 4 YSI central wiping components to integrate with the Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy Systems (CBIBS) Nexsens X2 data logger. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: Suitable for Marine Environment (waterproof) Multiparameter compatible (minimum of 5 ports) SDI-12 Communications output Communication port must also supply power not to exceed 6-16 VDC or 1A in 5 minute intervals Near-Continuous sampling required No less than 1 Hz sample rate At a minimum must have available sensors to measure conductivity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, chlorophyll and pH Must employ anti-biofouling technology Compatible with Nexsens X2 data logger 15cm maximum instrument diameter Must be able to operate in temperatures -5 to 40 C External Pressure is not required Sensor deployment must meet 90 days between maintenance Sensor calibrations must be able to be performed in non-professional laboratory settings, including in the field Third party calibration standards must be available Our research has demonstrated the values of multiple parameter sondes in marine environments to be a robust method for balancing the needs of CBIBs and stakeholders. The near-continuous data from the sondes measuring several parameters simultaneously provides valuable information on changes occurring in the Chesapeake Bay during extreme weather events as well as diel and seasonal changes. CBIBs program also provides an opportunity for stakeholders to (1) have a stable platform to collect water quality data to aid in environmental policy decisions without significant upfront cost; (2) recreational and marine professionals to quantify on-the-water conditions; (3) have a data collection system that can be updated at a minimal cost.
