- Description
- The contractor will support BNL in providing support to the C&A Program in the areas of innovative technologies and IAEA safeguards implementation. As part of this effort, the contractor will assist BNL with several NPAC-sponsored initiatives. One specific area of focus will include the potential benefits and challenges of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) to IAEA safeguards.� Description of Services: Requires the services of a contractor that can provide technical support in the areas related to: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and its programs in safeguards; Emerging and innovative technologies for safeguards; IAEA strategic planning processes, particularly for application and implementation of innovative and emerging technologies; Current IAEA initiatives related to emerging technologies, such as distributed ledger technology (DLT) and artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), including ; AI/ML, and the application of these technologies to international safeguards; AI/ML initiatives at in the U.S. National Laboratory System. Additionally, the contractor should possess extensive experience in the following areas: Work experience in the U.S. National Laboratory System and in the IAEA Department of Safeguards; In-depth knowledge of the structure of the Department of Safeguards and current Department of Safeguards staffing; Strategic planning experience; Experience in the area of innovative technologies for safeguards, particularly DLT and AI/ML; The IAEA Physical Model and current IAEA inspection practices; IAEA safeguards policy and policy implications of innovative and emerging technologies; Planning and organizing workshops and events to bridge the gap between safeguards policy makers and developer of innovative and emerging technologies; Excellent writing skills and experience drafting technical reports for a non-technical audience.
