- Description
- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE ORDER AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. This contract action is for the acquisition of Services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-l(b). The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to Active Motif, 1914 Palomar Oaks Way, Suite 150, Carlsbad, CA 92008, for the acquisition of a PIXUL Multi-sample Sonicator. NIEHS wants to procure a PIXUL robust multi-sample sonicator that delivers extremely consistent fragmentation of up to 96 samples processed in parallel and it is fast, simple, and inexpensive to operate. The Archer lab relies on high throughput Next-generation sequencing applications, such as ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, exome sequencing, and whole genome sequencing which require precise sample fragmentation for compatibility with sequencing instruments. The PIXUL sonication system is rated to perform well for multiple users here at NIEHS. Product No. Description Units 53130 PIXUL Multi-sample 1 each 53147 PIXUL Sonication Set-up Kit 1 each The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516 Instrument Manufacturing for Measuring and Testing Electricity and Electrical Signals"" and a size standard of 1000 employees. NIEHS research studies chromatin and epigenetics which involves sonication of various human and mouse cell samples. As the next-generation sequencing applications, such as ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, exome sequencing, and whole genome sequencing evolve, so does the precision in sample fragmentation. Most of the current sonicators in the department are >10 years and the efficiency of fragmentation has deteriorated over the years. NIEHS request the purchase of a newer model of multi-sample sonicator for faster and efficient fragmentation of genomic material. This new system will provide better fragmentation and high next-generation sequencing resolution of the genome. PIXUL is the only a robust multi-sample sonicator system that is very adaptable to many users and requires a small footprint for setting up. NIEHS will solicit and negotiate directly with Active Motif and no solicitation will be issued. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability. Award is subject to approval of the Sole Source Justification. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotations; however, an interested party may submit a statement of capabilities if they believe they can meet the above requirement. The statement of capabilities must be submitted in writing and contain sufficient detail to allow the Government to determine if the party can provide the requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. All responses must be received within (3) days from the date of publication of this synopsis. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. If no affirmative responses are received within (3) days of this notice, an award will be made to Active Motif. This procurement is to be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. There is no solicitation package available. No faxed documents will be accepted. For any questions regarding this announcement, please contact Tanya Redfearn via email shields3@niehs.nih.gov.
