- This is a notice of intent to sole source a contract under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(2), only one source being available to meet the Government s need. The contract will be for a one (1) year base period. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this procurement is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with a small busines size standard of 1000 employees. The FSC/PSC is 6640, Laboratory Equipment and Supplies. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VISN 21, NCO21 Honolulu, HI on behalf of VA Palo Alto Health Care System, Medical Center (VAPAHCS), wants to purchase a VIRTUO Microbial Detection System or Blood Detection Analyzer. There are no other source of supply/service that will satisfy agency requirements. The VIRTUO Microbial Detection System or Blood Detection Analyzer maintained at the: VA Palo Alto Nevada Health Care System Sierra Pacific VA Health Care Facility 3801 Miranda Avenue Palo Alto, CA 94304-1207, USA. This is a fully automated blood culture solution with real-time notification of blood volume, with a quicker time to detection 1 and virtually zero hands on time. VIRTUO is the first continuously monitoring blood culture microbial detection system to offer set and forget loading, allowing personnel with any skill level to load the instrument any time throughout the day and night, thus enabling even more rapid results and improved patient care. A blood culture is a test that checks for foreign invaders like bacteria, yeast, and other microorganisms in your blood. The VA Palo Alto Nevada Health Care System is seeking to purchase a VIRTUO Microbial Detection System or Blood Detection Analyzer. The response will be considered by the agency. If you are not the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), you must submit an authorized distributor letter signed by the OEM. If you are not the OEM and a small business, you must indicate in your response how you will comply with limitations on subcontracting and/or the non-manufacturer rule. Responses should be submitted to Haunani Freeman(AKA) at darralynn.freeman@va.gov no later than August 13, 2021 at 12:00 PM HST to be considered. If no responses are received, the Government will continue with its sole source procurement, and a sole source Request for Quote will be published to contract opportunities in accordance with FAR 5.102.
