- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, with Vitrek, LLC 900 North State Street, Lockport IL 60441-2200 under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b), for the procurement of a High-Speed Digitizer. NIST requires a high-speed digitizer for the optomechanical thermometry project. This project aims to achieve metrologically relevant uncertainties, which places rigid requirements on all aspects of the data acquisition system, including the high-speed digitizer. Thus, the required high speed digitizer must provide the unique requirements with exceptional noise performance, wide operating bandwidth, and a large on-board acquisition memory (at least 8 GB) and support continuous streaming of data. These specifications are required as the optomechanical thermometers produce radiofrequency signals with very small amplitude (on the order of 10 uV) and characteristic frequency > 100 MHz. To detect these signals with sufficient signal-to-noise ratio, NIST needs a digitizer with exceptional noise performance (SINAD better than 62 dB), wide operating bandwidth (greater than or equal to 700 MHz), and fast data sampling (greater than or equal to 1 GS/s). NIST must also continuously acquire and average the signals from the optomechanical thermometers to achieve NISTs target precision. Because the data acquisition rate is high (1 GS/s), the digitizer must have both a large on-board acquisition memory (at least 8 GB) and support continuous streaming of data to its host computer (the computer it is connected to) at rates of at least 6 GB/s. NIST market research found only one company, GaGe/Vitrek has a digitizer that meets these unique requirements in order to surpass existing classical sensors with primary optomechanical thermometers. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334513, and the size standard is 750 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. Interested parties that believe they can satisfy the requirements listed above must identify their capability in writing before the response date of this notice. Only responses received by 08/22/2021, 11:59 p.m., EST will be considered by the government. Responses shall be submitted via email to Barbara.suhrie@nist.gov. No telephone requests will be honored.
