- Description
- STATEMENT OF WORK Background A cryostat is a device used to maintain low cryogenic temperature in samples. It is used in research to cut histological slices. They are usually used in a process called frozen section histology. In our lab we work with perfused tissue and need a machine to help to slice this tissue to the right micrometer length. Our lab needs a cryostat to be able to cut frozen histological tissue to help complete our researcher that is done at the Hershel Woody Williams VA Medical Center. Objective Our objective is to purchase a new Cryostat that meets the requirements outlined in this Statement of Work. The new Cryostat must be able to reach low temperature to preserve our tissue while it is in the process of slicing. The cryostat needs to be able to handle the amount of sample that we will use it to process. We will need an efficient cryostat to stop tissue degradation during the slicing process. Scope of Work This cryostat is required to help to complete our research projects. We need to use this same model of Cryostat because it is the device we use at Marshall University. This needs to be done, so we can maintain consistency across experiments. We need it to slice our brain tissue, so we can collect the specific regions of the brain. This tissue is used in our IHC protocol to help complete our picture of what is happing to the brain during our experiments. Period of Performance The period of performance of this contract is 90 days after the award of the Contract. Place of Performance Hershel Woody Williams VA Medical Center, Building 23R, 1540 Spring Valley Drive, Huntington, WV 25704.
