- Description
- NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) plans to issue a RFP for the Mars Sample Return (MSR) Capture, Containment and Return System (CCRS) Earth Entry System (EES) Spin Eject Mechanism (SEM) procurement in support of the Mars Sample Return Capture, Containment & Return System (MSR-CCRS) Project, Code 435. The SEM is being procured as a component of the EES, which is part of the MSR CCRS. The SEM restrains the Earth Entry System during launch, cruise, & Capture & Containment Module operations and is an integral part of the primary load path for all of these mission stages. The SEM will also release the EES from the MSR Earth Return Orbiter spacecraft and meet separation velocity and spin rate requirements. The scope of work for the SEM contract includes preliminary design, final design, fabrication, integration and testing, and delivery of the Spin Eject Mechanism. NASA GSFC is not requesting proposals at this time. It is anticipated that the subject acquisition will be a full and open competition resulting in a Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF) definitive contract. The delivery period will be for approximately 24 months. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 336414 and 1,250, respectively. The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about September 7, 2021, with an anticipated offer due date of on or about October 7, 2021. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable.
