- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center (CC), Department of Transfusion Medicine (DTM) intends to award on a sole source basis to Terumo BCT, Lakewood, Colorado 80215 to provide provide preventive and corrective maintenance for sixSpectra Optia Apheresis machines for a base year and two (2) twelve month option periods. The DTM is a unique blood center which collects blood and blood components from healthy donors for patients participating in many protocols. However, blood and blood products are also withdrawn from patients when prescribed by a physician, which may have a therapeutic benefit to treat their medical condition. These six (6) apheresis machines, are used to perform extracorporeal therapy in which the blood of donors or patients is passed through the device to separate blood components. Numerous regulatory authorities, specifically the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and American AABB set policy and enforce this policy for care and maintenance of equipment that is used, in support of donors and patients per the above. Terumo is the original equipment manufacturer. There is no other known company that can provide the breadth and depth of knowledge to properly service these specialized Optia apheresis instruments. It is not safe to experiment with other vendors as patients are connected to these machines. This company has trained experts to provide maintenance and service for this specific instrumentation. Any disruption to the current methodology and/or instrumentation could discontinue protocols required for patients. NO REQUEST FOR QUOTE (RFQ) IS AVAILABLE. Notwithstanding, any firm that believes it is capable of providing the required product as stated herein may submit a capability statement to document its ability to provide the required product, which if timely received, must be considered by NIH. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. All responses or questions regarding this posting must be in writing and can be sent via email to: dehnerm@cc.nih.gov. No phone calls will be accepted. This sole source procurement will be awarded as a simplified acquisition for commercial items in accordance with FAR Subpart 13.106.
