Description
Description of Work: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, intends to award a firm fixed contract work that consists of the repair of the Senator Roth Bridge (SR-1). The (SR-1) Bridge is a major 6-lane, high-level crossing over the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal that carries more than 33 million vehicles (including 3 million trucks) each year. Currently the bridge is experiencing delamination of the overlay in multiple areas across entire length of both the southbound and northbound lanes. The current damage can be seen at all joints across the bridge and recent soundings have indicated additional deterioration areas. This repair will be competed for the full span of the bridge on the southbound and northbound lanes. The repair will consist of the removal of the existing 1.5"""" LMC overlay that sits above the precast boxes. Once the existing overlay is fully removed the surface will be cleaned and prepared. The new overlay will be concrete and placed with a screed. Once completed the new lanes will be painted and placed back in service. This contract will also include traffic control during construction. Construction will be staged to maintain 3 lanes in both directions for the duration of the repair. Additional repairs will include some asphalt shoulder and concrete spall repairs. Period of performance of the contract will last 425 days from 10/15/2021 through 12/14/2022. The contract estimate for the work is between 10,000,000 and 25,000,000. Estimated Quantities.
