Description
36C24621R0125Contract Procedures Page 1 of Page 93 of 93 Page 1 of DESCRIPTION Provide professional Architect/Engineer (AE) necessary to design for the Replacement and Expansion the Nurse Call System at the Charles George VAMC, Asheville, NC. Project will replace the existing nurse call system consisting of 6 patient wards covering approximately 80,000 square feet and 500 devices in Building 47 and 2 patient wards covering 80,000 square feet and 200 devices in Building 62 Community Living Center. Project will expand the nurse call system into Primary Care clinics, Specialty clinics, and public restrooms covering approximately 200,000 square feet and 500 devices. The entire system covering 360,000 square feet will work as one system, reporting and communicating as required by the VA design criteria for Nurse Call Systems. There is not basis of design since this will be an entirely new system. Work includes demolition of the old system hardware and wiring, installing new wiring and conduit where necessary, replacing hardware devices at the bedroom headwall (approximately 250 beds) and at the 9 nursing stations. Work also includes installing conduit, wire, and pull stations in all public restrooms (estimated 50 restrooms withing the 200,000 square feet) and areas of care that a patient may attend, as well as outpatient clinics or procedure rooms where required. A/E will investigate the existing conditions at the main building (Bldg. 47) and CLC (Bldg. 62), review documents, review the latest NFPA code and VA Fire Safety code.
