Description
The National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is requesting information for Microvalves to be used within the DraMS Gas Processing System (GPS). The scope of this requirement is for the manufacturing, testing, and delivery of the flight-qualified Microvalves. These Microvalves will require the same specifications, operational characteristics, and performance features as the microvalves used on the mass spectrometers that GSFC delivered for NASAs Mars Sample Laboratory (MSL)/Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM), NASAs Mars Organic Molecular Analyzer (MOMA) for the European Space Agencys ExoMars Mission, and NASAs Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN (MAVEN) flight projects. These Microvalves are required to operate within the extreme planetary environments of our Solar System and operate within the mass spectrometer instruments. As such, these Microvalves must provide tight seals with very low leak rates for long durations, they must be robust against the launch and space environment, they must be low mass and low power, they must conform to the constrained instrument design and existing interfaces, and they must not introduce contamination risk that would compromise the high sensitivity molecular measurements performed by DraMS. Detailed design and performance requirements are provided in Section 2 (see attachment). Responses should include as much design detail and expected capabilities you wish the Government to consider, in addition to any flight heritage and/or previous qualification testing performed. See attachment for additional details
