Description
Scanning Arm portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM) with the non-contact functionality of a laser line probe for part inspection, legacy part replication and the capability to design new and improved components by SERMC. Currently, SERMC lacks the capability to reverse engineer legacy items, rapidly develop new parts from failed parts, accurately check pitting and eroded surfaces as well as accurately measure tight tolerance parts in the fleet. This technology will allow SERMC to manipulate the developed models as well as give SERMC the ability to make changes and/or improvements to those renderings where needed. SERMC engineering has been asked to develop new parts from legacy parts, as per example parts and proprietary items, all which contain tight tolerance that need to be accurately checked before handing over custody. There are numerus cases where the Scanning Arm will benefit SERMC in saving man-hours and material cost by providing an accurate product in a timely manner. The Scanning Arm will be the perfect addition to SERMCs Engineering resources. SERMC is requesting the purchase of a Scan Arm for Achieving high-speed point cloud capture and high accuracy with this LLP. This is to reverse engineer and create renderings by 3D modeling. Once that is converted utilizing Geomatics SERMC Engineering will be able to print replica components for shipboard use.
