Description: THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE ORDER AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. This contract action is for the acquisition of Services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-l(b). The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to KARL STORZ Veterinary Endoscopy-America,Inc., 1914 Palomar Oaks Way, Suite 150, Carlsbad, CA 92008, for the acquisition of a Coloview System. The Coloview scope from KARL STORZ is a small animal colonoscopy system that NIEHS plan to use for the longitudinal monitoring of the colon tumors in the PIRC rat study. In addition to visual examination, biopsies for histology and molecular evaluation can be collected without sacrificing the animals. The equipment can be used to monitor and biopsy livers, as well.� As fewer animals would be needed, NIEHS will support the 3Rs principals of animal use.
