- Page 2 of 2 36C24221Q1515 SPECIAL NOTICE NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE VENTILATED RAT RACK - ALBANY VAMC The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office NC02 in conjunction with the Albany VA Medical Center, 113 Holland Avenue, Albany, NY 12208, intend to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The NAICS code is 333999 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. The VA intends to solicit and negotiate with Lab Products INC for a Ventilated Rat Rack 1400. This contract will be a Firm Fixed Price sole source. Albany VAMC requires the purchase of a ventilated rat rack 1400. The ventilated rack would enable the department to house experimental animals such as rats, mice, hamsters and guinea pigs for different studies, in one mobile rack. It delivers low velocity HEPA filtered air to each cage while capturing cage effluent air. It will prevent cage air from entering the room and room air from entering cages, protecting both animals and research personnel. The ventilated rack will enhance the quantity and quality of our studies. This high density housing has up to 80 individually ventilated cages per system. The rack yields large rat populations with versatility to also house, mice, hamsters and guinea pigs in one mobile rack. Houses up to 240 adult rats (400 g) in about <20.3 sq ft (<1.9 sq m). Standard capacities from 21 to 80 individually ventilated cages per mobile unit. The equipment provides animal housing with modular, snap-on feeders and delivers low velocity HEPA filtered air to each cage while capturing cage effluent air, preventing cage air from entering the room and room air from entering cages, protecting animals and personnel. Racks provide unobstructed view of cage interiors, without having to remove cages from the rack. Other persons may identify their interest by responding to this requirement by Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10 am EDT. Such capabilities information will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
