Description
This Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought (SS) Notice is for market research, information and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation on the part of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) or the US Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA).� This request for information/sources sought is seeking sources that have the knowledge, capabilities and experience to provide Scientific Technical Support Services. This effort is in support of the Wound Infections Department in the Bacterial Diseases Branch, WRAIR, for the research and development of medical countermeasures against trauma-related wound infections. The Wound Infections Department's mission is to plan, resource, execute, publish, and deliver medical products in support of Wounded Warrior traumatic injury and infection, and the supporting health care systems. Other deliverables include advising the command on military-relevant wound infection and diagnostic research; resource, execute and publish basic, applied, and clinical studies; develop intramural, extramural, academic, and industry collaboration; consult combat casualty and infectious disease health care providers; and apply research solutions to clinical policy development. Implied tasks include looking into the future to formulate strategic, tactical and operational strategies for relevant, state of the art research in support of future conflicts and health care settings. Objectives: a. To provide scientific and technical support for the research, development, test, and evaluation of novel medical countermeasures (including drugs, biologics, vaccines, devices, and diagnostics) against wound infection pathogens. b. To provide scientific and technical support for research on wound pathogen biology, such as mechanisms of virulence and drug resistance. c. To provide scientific and technical support for the research and development of animal models for the study of wound infections and the evaluation of medical countermeasures against wound infections. d. To deliver samples of top-scoring novel small-molecule compounds identified by in 5ilico screening of commercially available chemical databases using Government-furnished X-ray crystal structure information. This announcement is not a formal solicitation and is not a request for proposal.� No contract will be awarded from this announcement.� No reimbursement will be made of any costs to provide information in response to this announcement or any follow up information requests.� Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced under a separate announcement.� This synopsis is for market research, information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Each response must reference the sources sought title. All proprietary information should be marked as such. Responses will be held confidential if requested.
