- Description
- Under The Technical Cooperation Program (TTCP) the alternative positioning, navigation, and timing (APNT) project conducted by Five-Eyes partners (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States), AFRL/RYWN is tasked to lead sensor integration effort to support the goal of demonstrating the effectiveness of APNT technologies, including emerging quantum PNT (QPNT) technologies, in an electronically-challenged environment where GPS is denied or unavailable. The initial efforts will focus on shipboard applications to forgo the Size, Weight, and Power (SWAP) and dynamic challenges.� A later goal of tactical airborne, mounted and dismounted applications will soon follow after successful maritime demonstrations.� The project team will acquire the QPNT sensors through either commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) or technology development, integrate with other alternative PNT sensors, and perform necessary testing to verify a combined capability that can augment current navigation systems in a GPS-denied environment.� The results will be demonstrated shipboard at Pacific Rim Military Exercise in 2022 and 2024 (RIMPAC 2022 and RIMPAC 2024).
