Description
21 CES/CENM at Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station require an overhaul of Blast Door 3 for which some of the components have become obsolete, some are missing, and all of the components have surpassed their service life expectancy. The requirement includes reverse engineering and design of outdated or missing components of Blast Door 3, custom fabrication of internal hydraulic components of the blast door, the building of a mock door which will be used to test all components prior to installation, the programming and installation of the system and customized software that will operate and monitor the blast door, and the integration of the system and software for Blast door 3 with the current existing system and software used for Blast Doors 1 and 2. The primary objectives of this acquisition are to bring Blast Door 3 up to current operational standards, ensure many of the components of Blast Door 3 are ""identical and interchangeable"" with doors 1 and 2, and the operation and monitoring software for all three doors is fully integrated. The requirement for components to be 'identical and interchangeable is due to the fact that Blast Doors 1 and 2 are vital to the security of the complex. If a component in Blast Door 1 or 2 fails, CE has the ability to farm parts from Blast Door 3, keeping Blast Doors 1 and 2 operational while the contracting and fabrication of new parts is completed. Blast Door 3 is a maintenance door, which can be kept shut while the new parts are fabricated without compromising the operations or security of the facility. Additionally, Blast Door 3 is not currently operational on a digital system which allows remote control and monitoring, further compromising the security of the complex. If CMSFS need to quickly shut the doors due to emergency or threat, the lack of remote operation would cause a delay, and the inability to monitor the door status from a remote location results in for decreased security.
