Description

The National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) has six Weather Buoys stationed within four National Marine Sanctuaries (NMS) off of the west coasts of California and Washington. These buoys provide valuable data for marine traffic, NMS operations, and are an integral part of the National Weather Service�s (NWS) forecast models. As such there are requirements with regards to what portion of the mooring remnants can remain behind as part of normal operations. On occasion these buoys may go adrift from their moorings from a variety of causes leaving an unknown portion of the mooring behind. The NDBC is wanting to develop a better understanding of the costs involved with recovering mooring remnants in the event of a mooring failure in the NMS. Please see the attached document for more information, background and details pertaining to this Request for Information (RFI). Responses to this RFI are requested no later than 5:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, on November 16, 2021. Responses should be sent via email to Bryton.curtis@noaa.gov and Steven.m.prado@noaa.gov.
