Description
THIS SOURCES SOUGHT/REQUEST FOR INFORMATION IS ISSUED FOR INFORMATON AND PLANNING PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT CONSIDERED A SOLICITATION. The purpose of this source sought/RFI is to gain knowledge of businesses that are capable of satisfying the following work requirements: Statement of Work Annual Fire, Smoke Door and Fire Damper Inspections 1.0 Scope of Work The contractor will perform annual NFPA 80 Fire and Smoke Door and Fire damper inspection at the Boston Healthcare System, Jamaica Plain Division. Contractor is responsible for all labor, materials, tools and special equipment required to perform the work. The work includes fire door inspection, testing, and documentation of: Building One (1)/1F Qty 250 Fire Doors The work includes fire and smoke damper inspection, testing, and documentation of: Building One (1)/1F Qty 370 Fire Dampers Contractor shall provide (1) electronic copy and (1) hard copy of individual inspection sheets for each door assembly inspected. Contractors must have non-enabled PIV badges and will be escorted on-site by VA employees at all times. 2.0 Performance Requirements Perform NFPA 80 Inspection of each identified fire/smoke door assembly to include: No open holes or breaks exist in surfaces of either the door or frame. Slats, end locks, bottom bar, guide assembly, curtain entry hood, and flame baffle are correctly installed and intact. Glazing, vision light frames, and glazing beads are intact and securely fastened in place, if so equipped. Curtain, barrel, and guides are aligned, level, plumb, and true. Expansion clearance is maintained in accordance with manufacturer's listing. Drop release arms and weights are not blocked or wedged. Mounting and assembly bolts are intact and secured. Attachments to jambs are with bolts, expansion anchors, or as otherwise required by the listing. Smoke detectors, if equipped, are installed and operational. No parts are missing or broken. Fusible links, if equipped, are in the location; chain/cable, s-hooks, eyes, and so forth, are in good condition (i.e., no kinked or pinched cable, no twisted or inflexible chain); and links are not painted or coated with dust or grease. Auxiliary hardware items that interfere or prohibit operation are not installed on the door or frame. No field modifications to the door assembly have been performed that void the label. The periodic routine testing of existing fire dampers includes: Clean debris from all surfaces of the fire damper. Actuate each fire damper by removing the fusible link and making sure that the fire damper fully closes. Use pneumatic safety device if required to safely remove fusible link. Reset the fire damper. Use pneumatic safety device if required to safely re-install fusible link. Document the date that the fire damper was tested and if the fire damper passed or failed inspection. If a fire damper fails testing a detailed reason of why the fire damper failed will be provided. The fire damper testing report provided to the owner will be completed for each individual fire damper. Photograph each individual fire damper actuated and reset. Place of Performance: 150 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130 Period of Performance: the contractor will have 120 days to complete the required work. There are no options. Responses to this sources sought will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. After review of the responses to this sources sought, a solicitation announcement may be published. Responses to this sources sought notice are not considered adequate responses for a solicitation announcement. Responses to this sources sought/RFI are due by 5 pm EST time on November 15, 2021. Responses to this notice shall be submitted via email to issa.shawki@va.gov. Telephone responses shall not be accepted. If a solicitation is issued it shall be announced at a later date, and all interest parties must response to that solicitation announcement separately from the responses to this request for information. Responses to this notice are not a request to be added to a prospective bidders list or to receive a copy of the solicitation. The NAICS code for this requirement is 541350 and a small size standard of $8,000,000.00
