Description
Request for Information (RFI) DARPA-SN-22-03 Microbial Electronics and Quantum Biology The Biological Technologies Office (BTO) of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) seeks to facilitate and accelerate research on novel biological solutions for electronics or electronic devices (such as circuits, sensors, transducers), and their constituent materials and components. Additionally, BTO is seeking to explore concepts that exploit biological quantum effects. BTO is interested in microbial biotechnology to produce environmentally robust electronic components and assemble them into functional devices that enable application-specific tunability and superior performance. Ideally, these concepts could enable new paradigms for remote self-powered networks; enhanced sensing and signal processing; device architectures for MEMS and photonics; and increased durability against damage or interference from the environment or electromagnetic radiation. Devices should exploit biological properties that allow for: functionality at a range of temperatures and aqueous conditions; imperviousness to interference or damage from radiation; self-healing/regenerable; enhanced sensing and signal conversion; bio-logic operations; and quantum phenomena. See Attachments for additional information.
