Description
M6 Electric Cap / M7 Non-Electric Cap / M7 Non-Electric Cap (Inert) This is a market survey for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this market survey or otherwise pay for information solicited. The Government will utilize the information provided only to develop the acquisition strategy for future requirements. All information submitted will be held in a confidential status. DODIC M130, NSN 1375-01-316-1229, Cap, Blasting, Electric, M6 Assembly. Maximum Diameter = 0.24-0.26; Maximum Length = 2.35 in.; base charge of RDX, an intermediate charge of lead azide, and an ignition charge of smokeless powder, potassium chlorate and lead salt of dinitro, ortho cresol in an aluminum alloy cup. Two 12-foot lead wires, connected by a bridge wire in the ignition charge, extend through a rubber (or rubber and sulfur) plug assembly in the open end of the cup. Two circumferential crimps secure the plug assembly in the cup. The Electric Blasting Cap M6 is used to initiate high explosives with a blasting machine or other suitable source of electric power. It is capable of detonating all standard military explosives. DODIC M131, NSN 1375-01-315-1335, Cap, Blasting, Non-Electric, M7 Assembly. Maximum Diameter = 0.24-0.26; Maximum Length = 2.35 in.; Approx Explosive Weight = 2.47 grams; Packaging Dwg 12913876. This non-electric blasting cap consists of an aluminum alloy cup containing an ignition charge of lead styphnate, an intermediate charge of lead azide, and a base charge of RDX. The cup is flared at the mouth to mate with the matching shape of the nipple of a firing device. Base coupling and the flared end facilitates insertion of time-blasting fuse or detonating cord. The non-electric blasting cap M7 is used to detonate all military explosives. When initiated by time-blasting fuse, primer or detonating cord the ignition charge detonates the intermediate charge which detonates the base charge, in turn. Detonation of the base charge initiates the explosive charge. DODIC M097, NSN 1375-00-621-8362, Cap, Blasting, Practice, Non-Electric Inert Assembly. Maximum Diameter = 0.24-0.26; Maximum Length = 2.35 in.; Approximate Explosive Weight = 0 grams; Packaging Dwg 12913876. The inert non-electric blasting consists of an aluminum alloy cup that does not contain any explosive material. Interested companies should respond by providing the Government the following information: a brief summary of the companys capabilities (a description of facilities, personnel, and past manufacturing experience as it relates to the above criteria) and availability. The NAICS code for this item is 325920 with a business size standard of 750 employees. Please indicate your business size in your response. It is requested that offerors provide information as to whether your company is capable and willing to produce all three items, and whether placing all three items on the same contract would preclude your company from bidding on any later solicitation. If you are unable to make all items listed in this market survey please list the item(s) and provide a brief explanation. Interested companies should provide minimum and maximum monthly production quantities and identify the remaining capacity for simultaneous production of all the items listed above (and if manufacturing resources are shared with other item/production lines). Additionally, it is requested you provide the Minimum Procurement Quantity (MPQ) required for economical production. A respondent to this survey should be able to show adequate technical and manufacturing capability and good past performance in the explosives processing industry. A respondent to this market survey must have available a majority of the skills and facilities that are required to manufacture these items. If a respondent does not have adequate resources (technical, manufacturing, personnel, etc.) available, the respondent, must be able to demonstrate and should describe his ability to obtain those resources in a timely fashion. If a respondent chooses to utilize the services of sub-tier vendors or subcontractors, those vendors or subcontractors must also meet these criteria. Interested companies should also include a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) for a quantity of 10,000 of each item listed above for one consolidated contract. All contractors interested in this future solicitation must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration Database. Interested parties have 30 calendar days from the date of this publication to submit information to be considered in the development of the acquisition strategy for this item. Any response to this market research should reference the following: M6/M7 Blasting Caps.
