- Description
- The Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) engine is an integral part of the Auxiliary Power Unit Assembly. The APU engine is a customized water-cooled Hatz single cylinder direct injection engine. The APU engine is specifically designed for the low-profile APU of the M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams Tank. The APU engine supplies mechanical power to the APU generator and therefore is a critical component of the APU assembly operation. This item supports the M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams Weapon System. The Government does not have rights to the Technical Data Package (TDP) or specifications. The Government does not own the data or the rights to the data needed to purchase this part from additional sources. The approved source, Marvin Land Systems Inc., has proven the ability to manufacture the APU engine that can successfully meet the SC-SA20450 Product Specification requirements for the M1A2 Abrams APU Assembly. This test is required for components that are critical for engine/vehicle operation and crew safety. The approved source has proven that they are able to deliver a damper housing of sufficient quality in support of the AVDS-1790 8CR diesel engines. If another possible source of supply for this item was identified, qualification testing would be required. PLEASE NOTE: - This notice is not an open solicitation i.e., Invitation for Bid (IFB) or Request for Proposal (RFP). - Technical data is not available for this item. - Qualification testing and evaluation is required to become an approved source. - Source approval does not guarantee business. - Qualifying as an approved source only provides the opportunity to compete on future solicitations.
