Description
Design/Engineering of Warehouse Shelving, Shelving Materials, and Installation of Shelving The U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified small businesses capable of providing design/engineering of warehouse shelving, shelving materials, and installation of shelving as described in the attached Statement of Work. This sources sought announcement is not a request for quote or proposal and the Government is not committed to award of a purchase order or contract pursuant to this announcement. The information resulting from this market research is simply for planning purposes to assist the Government in determining its acquisition strategy. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this notice. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code - 238390, Other Building Finishing Contractors, including shelving, metal, constructed on site, ventilated wire shelving and associated revenue standard $16.5M apply to this announcement. All responsible sources may submit a capabilities statement detailing the ability of their product and service to meet the Statement of Work included in this announcement. Please include DUNS number with submission. Responses to this announcement shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to dallan-loucks@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than 12/03/2021 /1500 ES. Responses submitted by hardcopy shall not be accepted or considered. US Geological Survey Alaska Science Center Statement of Work I. GENERAL INFORMATION A. The USGS in Anchorage, Alaska, specifically the Alaska Science Center and the Alaska Volcano Observatory, has moved into a new warehouse facility in Anchorage. We are in urgent need to obtain racking and shelving materials for this new warehouse location. B. The entire process will have to be completed in portions as outlined in the work requirements section. The vendor must thoroughly understand the Municipality of Anchorage city/borough codes and requirements, as well as the additional seismic requirements related to the earthquake prone area in which the warehouse is located. C. The warehouse site is slightly over 14,000 square feet. There are a couple of areas/bays within the warehouse where the shelving will be just two levels per area/bay. Most of the warehouse shelving will be three levels per area/bay. II. WORK REQUIREMENTS A. Technical Requirements. 1. Design/engineering of warehouse racking and shelving for new warehouse site located at 4831 Old Seward Highway, Anchorage, AK. a. Design of racking and shelving system to meet needs of new warehouse site � working with USGS to determine, more specifically, what the needs are. b. Engineering of racking and shelving to ensure it meets all weight and code requirements, to include required seismic calculations. c. Obtaining of all required permits related to the design, engineering, inspections, and installation of racking and shelving at new warehouse site. 2. Procurement of materials (estimated quantities). a. One-hundred (100) I series upright frames: 42 inches deep and 144 inches high with a minimum 24,000 pound capacity. b. Four-hundred fifty (450) I series load beams: 4 inches by 108 inches long with a 4,000 pound minimum capacity. c. Four-hundred fifty (450) Wire Decking: 52 inches wide by 42 inches deep, with 2-inch by 4-inch wire pattern. d. Fifty-four (54) eight-inch row spacers e. Eighty (80) twenty-four inch high bolt on post protectors f. Undetermined amount (should be low quantity) of end cap protectors (left, middle, right) - based on design layout. g. Undetermined amount (should be low quantity) of bollards - based on design layout. 3. Freight/shipping of materials from manufacturer location(s) to new warehouse site. 4. Installation of materials at new warehouse site, to include all relevant permits and inspections. B. Deliverables. Completion of work requirements outlined in II.A. within the period of performance via a phased work plan. III. SUPPORTING INFORMATION A. Place of Performance: 4831 Old Seward Highway, Unit 108, Anchorage, AK 99503 B. Period of Performance: approximately 150 calendar days - completion of work NLT COB Friday, 1 APRIL 2022 C. Special Considerations. 1. This work will occur in phases. Coordination with the Technical Liaison will begin immediately upon award of the contract. With current supply-chain constraints, flexibility will be key in executing this work. 2. Vendor will provide all trucks, trailers, forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, etc. that are needed to Design-complete the outlined work, as well as properly trained personnel (certified as necessary) to operate major equipment items. 3. Vendor will provide insurance for their work services.
