Description

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to enter into sole source negotiations and subsequently award a contract to Curtiss Wright (CW), Mt. Pleasant, PA. This contract is for the procurement of Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) Production Program Motor Generator (MG) Long Lead Time Materials (LLTM) for the CVN 81 Aircraft Carrier. These materials have long manufacturing lead times and will be inserted into higher assemblies, as part of future contracting actions, into the EMALS and CVN 81 shipsets. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS.� This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, �Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements�.� The EMALS MG LLTM are forgings that are incorporated into higher level assemblies and are source controlled to Curtiss-Wright. As such a procurement of any materials to support those higher level assemblies are source controlled to Curtiss-Wright. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals; however, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation. The Government will consider any capability statements, proposals, or quotations received within thirty days after date of publication of this synopsis.� �There is no commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation, make an award, or be responsible for any money expended by interested parties before award of a contract for the effort described above.� Information provided herein is subject to change and in no way binds the Government to solicit for or award a contract.
