- Description
- Sources Sought The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is conducting market research to determine the availability of qualified businesses capable of leasing an integrated self potential (iSP) sensor to be deployed on an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) as described in the Statement of Work below. This sources sought announcement is not a request for quote or proposal and the Government is not committed to award of a purchase order or contract pursuant to this announcement. The information resulting from this market research is simply for planning purposes to assist the Government in determining its acquisition strategy. The Government will not pay for any costs incurred in the preparation of information for responding to this notice. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code 541990 - All Other Professional, Scientific, and Technical Services and associated size standard $16.5 million annually apply to this announcement. All responsible sources may submit capabilities statement detailing the ability of their service to meet the statement of work included with this announcement. Responses to this announcement shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to nlushenko@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than December 10, 2021 at 1700 ET. STATEMENT OF WORK The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for the lease of an integrated self potential (iSP) sensor to be deployed on an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) during an upcoming research cruise to Escanaba Trough, Northeastern Pacific. The planned operations are from May 25-June 12, 2022 on the R/V Thompson. The integrated self potential sensor will be installed on the AUV Sentry prior to the cruise, used during the research cruise, and processed data will be delivered after the research cruise. The iSP system must have successful previous deployments of at least 3500 m depth on AUVs, the working depth for this cruise. The iSP system must be able to be operated simultaneously with other AUV sensors including multi beam echo sounders, sub bottom profiling, cameras, and others. The iSP system must collect total and vector measurements of electric field in both vertical and horizontal directions and collect fully redundant measurements, allowing for measurement confidence. The system must have previously demonstrated that they can map self potential sources in hydrothermal sulfide mineralizing systems. The vendor must deliver processed iSP data after the research expedition.
