Description
The purpose of this notice is to find sources on who can provide the below requirement: BACKGROUND The family of CCBS consist of three ammunition variants (XM1177 / XM1178 / XM1179) and provides the capability to conduct close quarters live fire training with an approximate 155 Decibel (dB) noise signature. A Blank Firing Adapter (BFA) is not required for CCBS, but a Close Combat Mission Capability Kit (CCMCK) conversion bolt is required. All three CCBS rounds contain less than 20% of the energetic material in the corresponding predecessor 5.56mm M200 and 7.62mm M82 Blank ammunition. Minimum engagement distance when using CCBS ammunition in converted weapons is .5 meters (18 in.). The CCBS has an 18-inch (457.2mm) standoff (safety danger zone (SDZ) which allows for a closer safe engagement distance with reduced heat and/or flame over the predecessor 5.56mm M200 and 7.62mm M82 conventional Blank ammunition. The 5.56mm XM1177 CCBS ammunition is fired from the M4 Carbine and M16 rifle using a Close Combat Mission Capability Kit (CCMCK) weapon conversion training bolt and does not require a Blank Firing Adaptor (BFA). The XM1178 CCBS ammunition is fired from the M249 weapon using a CCMCK weapon conversion training bolt and does not require a BFA. The 7.62mm XM1179 is fired from M240B or MK48 weapons and uses the CCBS weapon conversion training bolt and does not require a BFA. The CCMCK training bolts are designed to replace the standard bolt and provides the feel and function of live ammunition and includes fail-safe measures to prevent the discharge of a standard live round. REQUIREMENTS CCBS General Requirements: The XM1177 CCBS shall be functionally compatible with the M4, M16 and M27 weapon systems with a standard issue CCMCK conversion kit and NSN (1005-99-132-2616) installed. The XM1178 CCBS shall be functionally compatible with the M249 with a standard issue CCMCK conversion kit installed. The 7.62mm XM1179 shall be functionally compatible with the M240B & MK48 weapons when employed with a CCBS weapon conversion bolt and NSN 1005-99-848-0609 in lieu of the original weapon bolts to prevent the discharge of a standard live round. CCBS shall not require any modifications to the existing weapon systems. The CCBS rounds shall be compatible with the bolt conversion kits as described above which shall prevent the accidental firing of standard ammunition. Weapon compatibility: The CCBS shall be functionally compatible with the standard issue weapons systems. Weapon and conversion kit compatibility includes, but is not limited to being capable of being loaded, chambered, fired, and extracted after firing without binding or causing damage to the weapon, and without cartridge induced malfunctions Energetic material qualification: All energetic materials used in the cartridges shall already be qualified for their intended military use by the Army or a Marine Corps Energetic Qualification Authority. The primer for the XM1177 shall be Rear Primer (12-0667 S&B) and the Front Primer shall be (RUAG 4122, ToxFree); The primer for the XM1178 shall be Rear Primer (12-0691 S&B); and the Front Primer shall be (Ruag 4122, ToxFree). The primer for the XM1179 shall be Rear Primer (12-5154 S&B) and the Front Primer shall be (Ruag 4122, ToxFree) Primed case sensitivity. The value of the average height (h) and standard deviation (s) of the height of fire functioning by a 1.94 0.02-ounce (55 0.5 g) steel ball shall be such that h + 4(s) shall not be greater than 11 inches and h 2(s) shall be not less than 1 inch. If you are capable of providing the above requirements, please send a white paper or any material on how your company can provide the supplies/services mentioned above.
