U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs OFFICE OF CONSTRUCTION & FACILITIES MANAGEMENT (CFM) AND THE OFFICE OF SMALL AND DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS UTILIZATION WOMEN VETERAN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESS (WVOSB) INITIATIVE 2-Day Virtual Event 19 - 20 January 2022 1:00 pm 6:30 pm EST Virtual MISSION: Build collaboration between CFM OSDBU for excellence in Veteran health and service delivery while enabling WVOSBs and WOSBs to be part of the delivery of healthcare facilities.  CFM and OSDBU will host a virtual engagement for Women and Women Veteran entrepreneurs interested in doing business with VA and prime contractors in the construction arena. These FY 2022 events seek to provide attendees with resources and access to economic opportunities. It will be a valuable networking opportunity for the Women Veteran-Owned Small Business Initiative (WVOSBI). APPROACH: Issue: CFM seeks to increase its success towards the WOSB goal of 5% thru a focused effort that encourages more WOSBs and WVOSBs to respond to solicitations.  A series of OSDBU - CFM collaborative engagements seek to create economic opportunities that directly support the President's Executive Order (EO) 13985. This EO aims to increase procurement opportunities to under-served communities.  Further, this will: Facilitate meaningful engagement with WVOSBs Explore barriers to the utilization of WVOSBs and WOSBs in design, construction, and related support services and gain insight into stakeholder thoughts and perceptions Discuss barriers and solutions in contract opportunities and promote modern vendor engagement practices OFFICE OF CONSTRUCTION & FACILITIES MANAGEMENT (CFM) The Office of Construction & Facilities Management (CFM) is responsible for the planning, design, and construction of all major construction projects greater than $20 million. In addition, CFM acquires real property for use by VA elements through the purchase of land and buildings, as well as long-term lease acquisitions. Through the construction and real property programs, CFM delivers to Veterans, high quality buildings, additions, large scale renovations, and structural enhancements. CFM also manages facility sustainability, seismic corrections, physical security, and historic preservation of VA s facilities. CFM Web Site: www.cfm.va.gov OFFICE OF SMALL & DISADVANTAGED BUSINESS UTILIZATION (OSDBU) The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) plays a significant role in ensuring that programs, services, and support resources reach the Veteran small business community. https://www.va.gov/osdbu/WVOSBI.asp WOMEN VETERAN-OWNED SMALL BUSINESS (WVOSB) INITIATIVE (WVOSBI) WVOSBI is an initiative under the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU); the first program in the government focused on Women Veteran entrepreneurs in the commercial marketplace. Collaborate and leverage commercial and other government agency intellectual capital. https://www.va.gov/osdbu/WVOSBI.asp OUTCOME: Engage WVOSBs and WOSBs in economic opportunities by offering resources and solutions to Women business stakeholders. Increase Women-Owned Small Business participation in CFM opportunities by implementing new industry engagements and approaches to promote competition. LISTENING SESSION ROUNDTABLES DESCRIPTIONS: After the RFI responses are compiled, a team will craft questions which will help us understand some of the challenges women veterans and women-owned businesses face.
