- Description
- Page 1 of 1 The Department of Veterans Affairs, San Francisco VAMC, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, pursuant to FAR 6.302-1, with GTSimulators for the Colonoscopy simulation model equipment for training physicians. The colon model simulators with realistic resectable polyps allows VA to provide technical training for cold snare polypectomy using an available VA training curriculum using Simulation-Based Mastery Learning principles. The VA collaborated with GTSimulators to create the prototype and working models of the ascending and sigmoid colon parts (each containing 20 polyps), which can be attached to the LM-107. These parts are incorporated into the simulators, used for the polyp resection simulation, and are replaced after 20 polyp resections. They are not available from other sources. We have previously published on the use of this model for training1 in the Veteran population and this model has been previously validated. The VA developed these specific training equipment models for cold-snare polypectomy for our VA physician training program in collaboration with GTSimulators and thus they are the sole providers. This is a notice of intent and is not a request for competitive quotes; however, any responsible source who can provide an equivalent product with these features described above may submit a capability statement to the contracting office no later than January 11th, 4:30PM, EST. Interest/capability statements may be sent to Lynn Portman at lynn.portman@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. A determination not to compete the proposed requirement based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
